Blickling
August Magazine

I hope you are all having a lovely summer and the best news of all is that there is so much happening in Blickling that I don’t have to write anything about my own family!!

Before all of the events, however, I would like to say a huge thank-you to Mike and Henrietta Lindsell for their wonderful hospitality in hosting the village cricket match. The rain held off and a wonderful day was had by all. Thanks also go to all that helped out on the day.

At the end of the month the Aylsham Show will be held at Blickling Park on Bank Holiday Monday 25th August. With a varied main ring, side ring attractions, judging of cattle, sheep, goats, horses & ponies and show jumping together with everything from classic cars and military vehicles to dog agility, floral displays, balloon excurions, art marquee, trade stands, petticoat lane and funfair there is something for everyone. The Main Ring includes ‘Eagle Heights’ as well as the X-Treme Trials Display Team. The Battle Of Britain Memorial Flight will also attend. Entrance:£10 for adults, children free, car parking free. Gates open from 8am.
Check out the website for advance ticket sales or join as a member: www.aylshamshow.co.uk

On Saturday 13th September there is the chance to be involved in The Norfolk Churches Trust, Bicycle Ride. Obtain a form from the Church and gain sponsorship for Blickling Church and the Norfolk Churches Trust. If you have a couple of hours to spare to ‘man’ the church let Marian know on 01263 732728

Check out whats on for the family at Blickling Hall. From Go Wild on 5th August; Clowning Around on 7th August; and Magic and Mayem on 13th August.

This may seem unseasonal, but, looking ahead to Bonfire Night at Abel Heath, we need a few volunteers to make it happen. The Bonfire has been something of a tradition for the last 21 years, and after a blip last year, we would like to restart it. Its a great little event kindly hosted by Phil and Di Scott at Abel Heath Farm. Volunteers are required for: gate management, making cakes, selling cakes, mulled wine, and soup, baked spud preparation, chopping onions, running the BBQ, selling the hot food, and shopping for food. If you can help with one of these tasks, it would be great: many hands make light work! Please contact Jess a.s.a.p. on 01263 735013 to enlist.
