CHURCH NEWS
As I write this, there are only ten days to go until Christmas. We have already had our Carol Service, which was attended by 78 people; it was wonderful to see the church so full and to hear such singing. The service was also memorable for the Rector's "chocolate" version of the story of the Three Kings!
Dates for 2009
27th February is the date for the QUIZ at the Village Hall. Tickets will be available, in due course, from Lorna or Stuart Ross and Janet Keymer. Tickets will be £5 and soft drinks will be on sale but please bring your own booze. The CONCERT, with Jayne May-Sysum, will be held in the church on Saturday, 18th April at 7.30 pm. Tickets for this will be £10, which will include a glass of wine. Angela is waiting to hear from volunteers to open their gardens on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st June! Do please come forward! There are a lot of people who love coming to Edgefield for the OPEN GARDENS.
VILLAGE HALL NEWS
What a splendid CHRISTMAS CRACKER evening we all enjoyed, as we raised funds for our lovely Village Hall. Thank you so much for supporting us and we do hope you enjoyed the fun and the seasonal atmosphere. Of note were the positive comments made by some visiting stallholders, who described the village people and place as "very pleasant and most welcoming". Compliments indeed for anyone involved with this worthwhile event. As to the profit made, we are awaiting the final total, so will be pleased to report on this in the next edition. The COMMITTEE will meet again early in the New Year to plan future events, so if anyone has a particular request for something exciting that we could consider, do feel free to ring Jenny on 01263 585006.
Meanwhile the next COFFEE MORNING will be on January 29th, 2009 at 10.30 am. We look forward to seeing you and hearing of your Christmas activities. Until then the VILLAGE HALL MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE sends everyone very best w ishes for a very happy and peaceful Christmas and a healthy New Year.
