January is party time! Really it should be a “sing for your supper” happening but it will actually be a “sing (or recite, narrate, dance, produce a quiz) after supper” event. On the 8th there will be supper at Laurel Farm for all choir and spouses or partners at 6.30pm. Practices will start the following week, weather permitting.
The last couple of months have entailed a great deal of hard work – the Advent Carol Service at Oulton and the two Carol Concerts at Wolterton have taken up most of our time. Thankfully all went well and both John Grooms Court in Norwich and the Benjamin Foundation have benefited from our concert efforts. Ill health prevented several members of the choir attending
practices and performing but three of them were able to come and listen to us instead.
At least two Group Services will be happening early in the New Year excluding the Christingle Service at Edgefield. Candlemas is the first. Some lovely music has been written for this occasion – we have new anthem books and will be finding new music to learn.
If you enjoy singing and can spare time on Thursday evenings, 7.30pm, do come and join us. A friendly lot! Helpful if you can follow music, but not essential – there are enough who can to help you along. If you are an experienced singer you will be so very welcome – we need all the help and experience possible. A telephone call first would be appreciated – we put out only the right number of chairs!
