Rather a negative month for little Barningham! Harold Hooker ended up with a
few days in hospital after a bit of heart trouble but is now well on the mend and his
bicycle. Harry Fennell also ended up in hospital after a fall but is now home again.
The village coffee morning was all but cancelled due to illness though a few of us
managed a cup of coffee and a biscuit together anyway. Doing Church Differently
took on a change of venue when Mary became unwell and we transferred at the last
minute to Sarah and Nick. If the fete at Church Farm is washed out to Laurel Barn
that will just about complete the picture! However, on the positive side we’ve actually
had some rain.
A number from the village (unfortunately one or two did not know about it) met
at the church with the Rev. Marion Harrison who is to be our Priest –in- Charge. All
found her cheerful, enthusiastic and warmed to her. She is particularly keen on
pastoral visiting and children – two things which will fill an immediate need.
Currently there is much debate about deanery boundaries and possible parish mergers
or team ministries. Until these matters are finalised a Rector cannot be appointed
therefore she will be a Priest-in-Charge until such times.
The “Community Payback” people came again to clear the churchyard and did a
wonderful job despite the wind and weather at the time. Coming to our churchyard
cannot be too much punishment – they get through a vast amount of coffee, tea and
biscuits! The wind blew over the notice board at the bottom of the hill but they rushed
down to pick it up and place it behind the wall inside the gate. Robin Bix has very
kindly put it back in position and secured it so well it should not blow over again.
Many thanks.
Saturday 23rd July 2011 at 5.00pm. Village BBQ to be hosted by Paul and Barbara
Thurtell, tickets will be £5.00 per person and available from Debbie 577430 (tickets

Harold Hooker would like to thank all those who have sent cards, flowers, gifts
and all who came to the service at the Crematorium.
